The Consulate General of Canada in Chandigarh presented, and was pleased to invite the community in Chandigarh for an enchanting musical performance by Canadian Indo-Jazz group Monsoon – Andrew and Johnathan Kay on March 15th.
Monsoon Duo is a group of Canadian musicians Andrew Kay and Jonathan Kay. They were nationally recognized by receiving a grant from the Canada Council of the Arts and The Indo-Canadian Shastri Fellowship to live in Kolkata and continue their study on Saxophone and Northern Indian Classical music under respected vocalist and Guru Pandit Shantanu Bhattacharyya. The event was very well attended and everyone engaged deeply with the authentic music.
Andrew Kay – Andrew Kay is a professional saxophonist and woodwind musician from Toronto, Canada. He has been thoroughly schooled on the Soprano, Alto, and Tenor Saxophones, as well as the Flute, and Bass Clarinets, Piano, and other auxiliary instruments.
Jonathan Kay – One of contemporary music’s versatile woodwind musicians, Jonathan Kay is leading the younger generation towards a truly original and creative approach to improvisation and global music through his Tenor and Soprano Saxophone. He is from Toronto, Canada.
The evening of music was hosted by UFV’s Chandigarh campus at GGDSD College, Sector 32, Chandigarh.
