Call for Artists–Desis in the Diaspora

The South Asian Studies Institute is looking for youth artists for the next exhibit at the Sikh Heritage Museum and National Historic Site Gur Sikh Temple. The exhibit, titled Desis in the Diaspora Canadian contemporary artists to submit photographic work which reflects upon Canadians of South Asian heritage – now and in the past. Each submitted project can consist of a maximum of five photographs. Photographs submitted to this exhibit should represent the artist’s ideas or perspectives on the diversity of experiences, aesthetics, cultural embodiments, religious symbolism, etc. The word “desi” speaks to the dual nature of identity for Canadian South Asians.

1. A person of Indian, Pakistani, or Bangladeshi birth or descent who lives abroad.
