Climate Change & Global Warming – Is it too late for us?

Thank you to Dr. Tim Cooper, UFV Physics Professor, for his thought-provoking presentation on climate change and global warming as part of the Faculty of Science greenSPEAK Series. The audience was entertained with his wit and knowledge on the subject. As a scientist and as a concerned citizen, Dr. Cooper provided the science, technology, economics and politics behind climate change and global warming and what our future holds. We left knowing that everyone must do their part to prevent global warming – every little bit helps.

The world’s leading climate scientists have warned there is only a dozen years for global warming to be kept to a maximum of 1.5C, beyond which even half a degree will significantly worsen the risks of drought, floods, extreme heat and poverty for hundreds of millions of people.

The following visual shows the startling decline of Arctic Sea Ice up to 2018.

Dr. Cooper finished his presentation with a quote from Albert Einstein that we all should live by

Those who have the privilege to know have the duty to act.

~ Albert Einstein
