UFV Launch – a new faculty professional development program

Each year, TLC runs UFV Launch – a new faculty professional development program.  UFV Launch is designed to provide newly hired full-time faculty members with the foundation of educational support, resources, and a learning network as they move into their new role at UFV.  The program consists of two nine-week courses delivered consecutively in the fall and winter semesters.  This year, facilitators Claire Hay and Michelle Johnson, are joined by 10 new faculty from Social Work and Human Services, Teacher Education, Nursing, Kinesiology and Physics.  Topics covered during the fall semester include community building, weaving Indigenous knowledge, active learning, learning with digital tools, curriculum development and learning outcomes, assessment, supporting students, and scholarship of teaching and learning.  Conversations on these topics are co-facilitated by faculty guests from across campus and other members of the TLC team.  Guests are encouraged to share their experiences on these topics allowing for robust conversations, knowledge creation, and idea sharing.  UFV Launch is offered in a hyflex format with sessions being offered in person, synchronously, online, and asynchronously.
