Hi! My name is Michelle Affleck. I was born in Pakistan but have called Maple Ridge my home since the age of seven. My international upbringing gave me a passion for travel and learning about cultures that are different from my own. I have a diploma in Early Childhood Education with a focus on children with special needs and have worked as an educator for almost a decade. Seeking a career change, I recently went back to school and now have a Bachelor of Integrated Studies and a Teaching English as a Second Language certificate from the University of the Fraser Valley. I have been teaching myself Korean for a few years and got to do a semester abroad at Ewha Womans University in Seoul, South Korea through UFV’s study abroad program. That experience sparked a desire to be a part of the UFV International team here in Canada. Even though I’m still getting used to my role, it has been a wonderful experience going from UFV student, to UFV alum, to UFV employee!
