Proper Disposal 101

March 25-29, 2019

Recently, we conducted an informative campaign called “Proper Disposal 101”. The purpose of this campaign was to clarify how to properly dispose of common items on campus.

Through many responses, we found that the outcome of this campaign was quite successful. As a result, we have plans to conduct a similar campaign in the future.

Have a happy Easter!

For those of you who celebrate Easter, we have looked into a few ways to make the holiday more sustainable!

Here’s what you can do to help:

  1. ZERO WASTE EGGS
Begin by boiling your eggs. This will also avoid a mess if one falls. Next, use natural colours to decorate. There are a ton of ideas online! For example, tumeric makes a great yellow. Finally, enjoy a tasty snack!
  2. LOCALLY SOURCED EGGS
Buying local is often better for you, the chickens, the farmers in the community, and the environment! This act helps the environment specifically by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
  3. NOT BUYING A RABBIT
Rabbits are often purchased as gifts but the novelty wears off faster than you may think. As an alternative, visit bunnies at animal friendly farms.
  4. INVEST IN SUPPLIES
If your family celebrates Easter every year, purchase good quality supplies that can be used time and time again.
  5. FOIL WRAPPERS INSTEAD OF PLASTIC
If you will be purchasing some treats, try chocolate eggs wrapped in foil. The foil wrapper can be disposed of in mixed recycling.
