2018 Faculty of Science AAAwards

Congratulations to this year’s recipients of the Faculty of Science AAAwards!

Each year, the Dean of Science in consultation with the department heads of science decide the recipients of these awards. They were handed out during the last Faculty Council meeting of the year.

Allan Arndt – Awesome Achievement Award, for overall excellence in academic endeavors.

Allan has served as Department Head of Biology for 2 full terms and as of May 1st has begun planning his sabbatical. His commitment and dedication to the Faculty of Science and the UFV community makes him a worthy recipient of this year’s Awesome Achievement Award.


Kseniya Garaschuk – Terrific Teaching Award, for instructional excellence

Kseniya’s dedication to her students’ success at UFV has made her the perfect recipient of this year’s Terrific Teaching Award. The Math and Stats Department and the Faculty of Science as a whole are very lucky to have such a remarkable role model for our faculty, staff and students!


Linus Chiang– Remarkable Research, for excellence in scientific research endeavors

Linus’s research program revolves around investigating the sustainable generation of renewable fuels catalyzed by inorganic coordination compounds. His commitment and dedication to research makes him a worthy recipient of this year’s Remarkable Research Award!


Robin Endelman – Outstanding Outreach, for excellence in community outreach events

Robin has been an active member of the Math and Stats department since she arrived at UFV. In 2016 she took over the reigns as Coordinator of Science Rocks! as well as the Super Science Club. The support Robin provides her student leaders, involving students in community activities and the magnificent care she provides to these students makes her a worthy recipient of this year’s Outstanding Outreach Award.


Jeff Chizma – Superb Service Academic, for outstanding performance of service duties

Jeff has served as Department Head of Physics for the past 3 years. His service to Physics, Science and the University at large has been exceptional and appreciated by all who have dealt with him. His commitment, dedication, and supportive nature is respected and makes him a worthy recipient of this year’s Superb Service Award!


Caroline Majeau – Superb Service Staff, for outstanding performance of service duties

Caroline dedication and commitment to the Faculty of Science is truly valued. Her smile, gentle nature, cheerful approach and attention to detail is appreciated by all who have had the pleasure to work with her. On top of her regular duties, she has been a key part of the team in running the Fraser Valley Regional Science Fair. Colleagues have applauded her hard work which makes Caroline the perfect choice for this year’s award!
