Student researchers recognized at awards night – UFV Today

A total of 41 students were recognized at the 14th annual Undergraduate Research Excellence Awards held on May 24, 2018 at the Ramada Inn. Each year, the Research, Engagement, and Graduate Studies office hosts the celebration dinner to honour excellence in research done by undergraduate students at UFV and to acknowledge their faculty research supervisors.

This year, the Faculty of Science was pleased to honour the following students who received a NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Award worth $4,500.

  • Yeeun Shin, Physics; Faculty Researcher: Lin Long
  • Japteshwar Gill, Physics; Faculty Researcher: Lin Long
  • Steven Esau, Physics; Faculty Researcher: Derek Harnett

These national awards are meant to stimulate interest in research in the natural sciences and engineering. They allow students to gain valuable research experience that complements their studies by working full time for a term with a nationally recognized UFV faculty researcher.
