The annual health fair is back March 26, but this time renamed Health and Wellness Expo. This year, UFV Nursing students are teaming up with Dental students to deliver health-oriented information on display at a resource fair on Chilliwack campus.
Topics will include: the Fentanyl Crisis; Binge Drinking; Early Cancer Screening; Sleep; Travel Health; Stress and Coping; Emergency Preparedness; Tobacco Cessation; and Oral Health Education/Resources for all ages and Nutrition (in particular intake of beverages) and increased risk for tooth decay.
Running 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Monday, March 26, the expo continues a tradition that spans nearly 15 years. Events traditionally operate once in the spring and fall, with students creating displays and offering advice on health promotion topics.
“It’s an exciting and meaningful opportunity for BSN and Dental students to engage with peers, staff, faculty and members of the public in discussions about statistically relevant health topics. Participants can ask health questions, share health stories and reflect on steps they can take to maintain or enhance their health. This year we are collaborating with the dental assistant program students. Working together and learning from each other provides opportunities that enrich the experience for all of the students,” says Associate Professor Kate McCulloch.
The Health and Wellness Expo will be located near the West Atrium of Building A at the CEP campus. This event is open to the public.
