It’s been four years since the Taliban seized control of Afghanistan and began imposing a regime of gender apartheid. These institutionalized and widespread gender-based discriminatory systems are having dire consequences for all Afghans, particularly for women and girls who are deprived of their fundamental rights, from education to free movement.
For the third year, students, faculty, and staff at UFV gathered to stand in solidarity with women in Afghanstan. The event — featuring a speech from activist Sahar Maqsoodi and co-organized by CHASI, UFV’s Faculty and Staff Association, and Sustainable UFV — aimed to maintain awareness of these systemic human rights abuses and show visible support for the women of Afghanistan.
