The University of the Fraser Valley is working with Punjab Technical University (PTU), to make it easier for Indian computing students to complete a Bachelor of Computer Information Systems degree. UFV was visited by Dr. Buta Singh Sidhu, Dean of Academics and International Collaboration for PTU, to sign a memorandum of understanding, which will provide an umbrella for cooperation between the two institutions. Dr. Lucy Lee, Dean of the Faculty of Science at UFV, signed on behalf of Dr. Mark Evered (currently in India). Also on hand were CIS department head Ian McAskill, Paul Franklin, a long-time CIS faculty member, and representatives of UFV’s International Education office. UFV has been receiving PTU students in relatively small numbers into its BCIS program for more than five years. As a result of the success of this informal cooperation, the two institutions have agreed to formalize the partnership by means of the MOU. In addition to the MOU, a letter of agreement for transfer into UFV’s BCIS program is under development.
