Well everyone, today would have been the day of our annual Employee Welcome Back BBQ. And what a wonderful day it would have been in the beautiful sunshine. But never fear — we are still celebrating our return to the new academic year! I have organized the BBQ for 30 years and I just had to come up with a way to commemorate our long-standing and beloved event, even at this chaotic time in the world. So keep your eyes on your mailbox for a special Welcome Back BBQ treat from UFV! It’s definitely not the same as being able to mingle and catch-up in person but hopefully you will enjoy receiving it and it makes you smile (even if we can only see part of your face).
Thank you to Alison Reeves, who is currently completing a public relations practicum with the UFV communications team, for providing the following message and Flickr set:
We wish we could be together in person for our annual Welcome Back Barbecue, but since COVID-19 restrictions prevent it, the communications team within University Relations compiled these photos from the last decade to look back on. Our university has grown tremendously over the past decade or so, and this success is a direct result of you, our employees. We love celebrating our employees and their families, and with all the challenges that 2020 has brought us, this year would have been especially meaningful to celebrate in person. As we all know it takes village to make UFV the success it is, and we strive everyday to do our work for the betterment of UFV, our communities and our students. We thank each and every one of you for your continued commitment and passion towards our collective goals. Please take some time to view our album and Welcome Back!
Thank you for the lovely gift! It just came in the mail and it totally made me day 🙂
