International Supplemental Instruction Leader Conference

SLG (Supported Learning Groups) leaders participated in the International Supplemental Instruction Leader conference held on March 21st & 22nd. 3 leaders Harman, Lexi and Jasmine also presented at the conference. Their presentation focused on how using games in SLG sessions amplifies engagement and increases retention. Leaders indicated that the opportunity to present at this international conference was a valuable and enriching experience. It provided an opportunity to share their insights on playing games in SLG sessions with a diverse audience which included professionals, educators, and leaders. Leaders also indicated that engaging in discussions with other presenters and attendees broadened their perspective and exposed them to new ideas and approaches to incorporate in their own SLG sessions.

“Overall, this experience pushed me to strengthen my own presenting skills, gave me greater insight into the power of SLG/SI, and also showed me how large and welcoming the community of SLG/SI truly is.”

-Lexi

Another leader Yuvraj who attended the conference said that a key takeaway for him was the importance of adapting sessions to different learning styles.

“Interactive elements, including educational games I hadn’t encountered before, proved effective for engagement. Seeing global leaders successfully implement these strategies reinforced their impact.

This experience has inspired me to refine my approach, creating dynamic and interactive learning environments for all students.”

-Yuvraj
