Effective Development and Delivery of Online Courses

As both students and instructors have developed skills and become more comfortable with using digital technologies, online courses have gained popularity due to the flexibility they offer. Our team at TLC has been supporting instructors in designing effective and accessible online courses. We recently developed and published the Online Course Guidebook as a resource that outlines important considerations for instructors as they develop their online course content and materials. We were invited to present this guidebook at Continuing Education’s PD Day on September 21, 2024.

Courtney Boisvert and Fizza Haider co-facilitated a one-hour session titled “Effective Development and Delivery of Online Courses” that was attended by over 40 participants. In this session, we highlighted essential tips and tricks for content organization and accessibility of online content. There was also a healthy and engaging discussion around strategies for effective online communication with students. The conversation concluded with sharing of digital tools and features within the learning management system that could be leveraged for effective community building in online courses.

Courtney Boisvert also facilitated a discussion on hyflex classrooms and introduced instructors to the new hyflex classroom in CCL 106 on the Clearbrook campus. For more information on hyflex classrooms please contact the Teaching and Learning Centre.
