Mitacs Industry Internship Opportunity with Harley Gordon – Microbiology

Dr. Harley Gordon (Biology, Assistant Professor) and Dr. Cory Beshara (Chemistry, Associate Professor) are seeking two part-time interns for a 6-month industry partnership project.

As the Microbiologist for the project, you will work both independently and collaboratively on an industry-focused research project. Work will be conducted on the UFV Abbotsford campus in the chemistry and biology research laboratories.

Expectations: Once training is complete, you will be expected to manage the microbiology component of the project independently. You will work directly with a chemistry intern on the enrichment and purification of bacterial metabolites.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Basic lab safety knowledge and experience
  • A strong desire to learn and develop new skills
  • A positive attitude and solid work ethic
  • An interest in natural product purification and commercialization

Successful applicants will gain experience in:
