On March 10-11th, the School of Land Use and Environmental Change (SLUEC) hosted the 64th Annual Meeting of the Western Division of the Canadian Association of Geographers (WDCAG). The theme of the meeting was Planning for Resilience and Climate Change and it was a great way to promote all of our programs, especially the new Bachelor of Regional and Community Planning degree.
This was the first post-COVID, in-person WDCAG conference and it was a resounding success! We had 173 attendees (133 students, 40 faculty) with over 50 presentations and over 30 posters. The following schools were involved in the conference:
- Okanagan College
- Royal Roads University
- Simon Fraser University
- Thompson Rivers University
- Trinity Western University
- University of British Columbia /Okanagan
- University of Calgary
- University of Lethbridge
- University of Northern BC
- University of the Fraser Valley
- University of Victoria
- Vancouver Island University
- Western Washington University
It was fantastic to reconnect, collaborate, discuss ideas, and to share memories and laughs together. SLUEC’s work – along with Claire Hay from TLC and Emil Fernandes from Conference Services – really helped to revitalize and regain momentum in the WDCAG.
