Science Rocks! Days receives $5,000 grant from Abbotsford Community Foundation

Thank you to the Abbotsford Community Foundation (ACF) for their continued support of our Science Rocks! program here at UFV.

On May 20, Robin Endelman, Science Rocks! Coordinator, was presented with a $5,000 Smart & Caring Community Grant cheque to support the launch of our new Science Rocks! Days. Due to the pandemic we were unable to host our regular summer camps in 2020 and 2021. We didn’t want to go another year without bringing science fun to the community so as things open up, we anticipate our one-day events will continue to encourage curiosity and foster a love of science in our youth. This 2021 spin on the much loved summer science program will consist of open-house events to be held on campus and be run throughout the academic year. These events will invite children from our local community in grades 4-8 onto campus for a day of scientific experiments and discovery.

Our program designers will be working tirelessly over the summer to bring a fun hands-on program which will be delivered by our UFV undergraduate students.  They will plan the activities with support from UFV faculty as well as Indigenous Educational Assistants from the local school districts.
