The team of Sarah Choi and Neelah Hassanzadeh continue to shine! After returning from the Canada Wide Science Fair in May, the NSERC Young Innovators were presented with the Association of Professional Biology Award for 2019. This award is presented to the British Columbia student(s) who achieve the highest standing at the Canada-Wide Science Fair with a project of a biological nature. They won for their project BSFL Frass: Improving Plant Health While Minimizing Environmental Impact.
Sarah’s adventure didn’t stop there. She had the opportunity to join 44 other Canada Wide Science Fair finalists from across the country and attend the MILSET Expo-Sciences International (ESI) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates in September. This international event brought together students from nearly 60 countries to showcase the creativity of young scientists from all over the world.
What’s next? Sarah and Neelah are in their final year at R.E. Mountain Secondary School in Langley. We wish them all the best and look forward to seeing them compete again at the Fraser Valley Regional Science Fair in April 2020!
