LIYSF 2019: Day 6

Professor Seth Love is a dementia researcher looking at the regulation of blood flow in the brain. This morning he shared his work in new ways of diagnosing Alzheimer’s disease based off of his unexpected research findings.

After the lecture we spent the afternoon in Garden Park, eating lunch and watching the passersby.

Later this evening we heard from the renowned scientist professor Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell. As an undergraduate student, she inadvertently made the discovery of pulsars, and in doing so opened up an entirely new branch of astrophysics. Today she spoke about new scientific advancements in the field of astronomy which are allowing researchers to observe short-duration phenomena. These are events in the sky which would never have been observed if not for her discovery. A truly awe-inspiring woman in science!
