Our first Math Mania event of the year was held on October 4th at Gordon Greenwood Elementary in Langley. A group of UFV faculty and student volunteers spent the evening sharing hands-on activities with the kids and their parents. One parent was overheard saying, “I thought the evening would be spent working on math equations” and then was really happy with the interesting games she encountered instead!
[box]The next Math Mania is scheduled for January 31, 2018 in Mission. If you would like to sign up to volunteer for the this event, please sign up using their new online webform. If you’re collecting volunteer hours for a practicum or for entrance into a teaching program, they can give you a letter describing your involvement.[/box]
Thank you to all of the volunteers for donating their time. This is a great opportunity to give back to our community and show children, and their parents, how much fun you can have playing with mathematical concepts!
