August 13: 4th annual gathering in solidarity with the people of Afghanistan

Poster for the event. Art at the top, created by CHASI artist-in-residence Sharon Strauss, shows a colourful image of Afghan women sharing a library space and books. Two women in burqas lean their heads together, reading the same book, with a heart between them. Another woman reads in the centre of the image, and next to her, a woman in a hijab teaches a girl how to write. The art is warm and has a sense of solidarity, with lanterns hanging and a bookshelf in the background. Text on the poster reads: "It’s been five years since the Taliban seized control of Afghanistan and began dismantling human rights. Please join us for a panel to learn more about the situation and for a walkout immediately afterwards. Panel Topics include, Human Rights, International Law, Education, and Intersectional Challenges in Afghanistan. Thursday, August 13, UFV Abbotsford. Panel 10:30–12:00: S1111, first floor of SUB Building Walkout 12:00–12:30: Meet between SUB and Gym." Beneath the text are logos for CHASI and UFV's Office of Sustainability, credit to Sharon Strauss for the art, and the text "Panel support by UFV President’s Inclusive Community Fund."
