UFV wants to hear from you about the future of housing on campus.
Earlier this year the provincial government announced that post-secondary institutions will be able to take on debt of up to $450 million system-wide to build new post-secondary housing.
Institutions are invited to submit business plans, addressing criteria that align with government goals, for student housing.
To help determine how to respond to this opportunity and perhaps gain access to some of this debt allowance, UFV is developing a housing strategy. This strategy will inform and guide decisions about residences on UFV campuses and will include both Abbotsford and Chilliwack campuses. Scion Group, an organization with deep experience and expertise in student housing advisory services, will assist UFV in researching options and developing a strategy.
Scion will conduct on-campus data gathering activities such as student surveys and whiteboard sessions, impact analysis workshops, focus groups which engage diverse student populations, and interviews with employees and units vested in student life and meeting UFV student housing needs. Scion Group will be on campus September 25, 26, and 27 to engage the UFV community and gather data. A final report is expected by the end of November.
UFV encourages all members of the university community to participate in this data-gathering activity.
UFV currently runs one 204-bed residence, Baker House, on the Abbotsford campus. It opened in 2007.
