Register for UFV/UW Virtual Employee Breakfast Cook-Off! — Nov 17

Tomorrow morning on Tues, November 17 at 8:15 am, our Virtual Employee Breakfast Cook-Off officially launches the 2020 UFV/United Way “Make a Difference” Campaign to support youth in need in our communities.  All donations made until Giving Tuesday on Dec 1 will be matched, dollar for dollar, doubling our collective impact!

Help celebrate our UFV community by being in our virtual audience, and cheer on our celebrity chefs. Register here to receive your Zoom link to this 35-minute online event and be eligible to win prizes!

Our host, UFV Director of Communications Dave Pinton, will be joined by special guests from the United Way, Chef Sian Hurley of our Culinary Arts program and Chef Chris Monkman of Sto:lo Aboriginal Skills and Employment Training, with their students!  Our judges are UFV Inspirational Leadership Award winners Kyle Baillie, Director of Student Life and Development, and Leah Whitehouse, Culinary Cafeteria Cashier.

Preparing Chef Sian’s Filled Crepes: One Sweet, One Savory, our chefs are:

  • Joanne MacLean, President and Vice Chancellor
  • Satwinder Bains, Director, South Asian Studies Institute
  • James Mandigo, UFV Provost, VP Academic
  • Lenore Newman, Director, UFV Food and Agriculture Institute

Why not watch the teaching video Chef Sian made for our cooks and try your own? Chef Sian cooked from the ingredients in her fridge. What’s in your fridge? Make your own version and post your breakfast pics to Instagram with hashtag #UFVCookOff to win a prize. We will also draw names from those who have made a donation to the campaign on December 3, Thank You Thursday.

Give to United Way programs that support local youth and families challenged with food insecurity.  Give to UFV Student Emergency Fund and help support students across our UFV community who are struggling as a result of COVID-19.

We thank all employees who have generously donated to the Student Emergency Fund since the outbreak of COVID-19, and to all who support the United Way through payroll deductions each year.
