UFV’s Teacher Education department is proud to announce the launch of our Bachelor of Education (as a second degree). In May 2016 the Ministry of Advanced Education approved this new degree to replace our current Teacher Education completion certificate. Graduates will now not only receive their teaching certificate from the BC Teacher Regulation Branch, but they will also receive a Bachelor of Education (as a second degree) from UFV. There are two options within the Bachelor of Education: the elementary/middle school option (Grades K-7) and the secondary school option (Grades 8-12). Within the secondary option, there are two streams: the Math/Science stream and the Humanities stream (English/Social Studies).
The courses and program remain the same, but now graduates will also obtain a second bachelor’s degree that will be more recognizable to other provinces and countries around the world. The Bachelor of Education (as a second degree) is a cohort program that runs full-time for three consecutive semesters: September to June. Applications can be submitted between Oct 1 and January 31 for admission into the fall semester. Please contact Barbara Salingré in the Teacher Education department for more information.
