UFV is working with several community stakeholders regarding the sale of a portion of its Chilliwack North property. UFV has been marketing its Chilliwack North campus over the past number of years with an active program to find a buyer for the 27-acre property. The sale of this property is a key funding source for the development of the new Chilliwack campus at CEP that was completed in 2012.
UFV now has offers from two interested buyers that may result in some changes to a large portion of the property – though no changes are planned for UFV programs or buildings actively operating at Chilliwack North.
The first offer involves a residential development on approximately 13 acres of the back property and the second offer involves a private school development (kindergarten to grade 9) on approximately five acres of the front property. Both parties are working with UFV and the City of Chilliwack regarding their plans for the property and could complete over the summer if they achieve the necessary approvals.
In addition, a number of old buildings on the 13-acre parcel will be demolished in preparation for the residential development, making the site extremely active over the next few months. Special safety measures will be in place to ensure safe access and egress through the front entrance. Access to the buildings scheduled for demolition is strictly prohibited (A, B, Barn, Greenhouse).
Campus Planning is working closely with the Theatre program and our current rental occupants to ensure access and services continue for buildings D, E and G. We look forward to continuing to offer Theatre courses and productions at this location and on-going activity from our rental partners.
