Ingi El-Hadi appointed AVP of Campus Planning and Facilities Management

The University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) has welcomed Ingi El-Hadi as the Associate Vice President of Campus Planning and Facilities Management, effective July 29, 2024. Ingi takes over from Betty Poettcker, who served in the role on an interim basis.

“Ingi has a strong appreciation and understanding of capital planning in a post-secondary environment, having served as both a faculty member and administrator in higher education institutions.” says VP Administration Jackie Hogan.

With over 20 years of international experience , Ingi has a portfolio that includes design, construction, facilities management, and the delivery of complex projects. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Khartoum, a Master of Science in Construction Management from Sudan University of Science and Technology and a MBA from Missouri State University, as well as a range of specialized certifications.

In addition to her practical expertise, Ingi has also contributed to the academic community as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Khartoum, where she advocated for the development of partnerships in higher education and contributed to various published works.

“I’ve always believed in the power of blending theory and practice,” she says, “Being a previous adjunct faculty member allows me to share real-world insights with students, keeping both my professional and academic passions alive.”

Before joining UFV, Ingi was the Director of Planning, Design, and Construction at Carleton University in Ottawa, where she led diverse teams managing capital projects with a budget exceeding $300 million. Her leadership earned her several accolades, including the Service Excellence Awards for Team and Individual achievements.

Ingi is eager to leverage her experience to foster collaboration across UFV, aiming to develop spaces that inspire learning and innovation. Her commitment to sustainability and accessibility aligns perfectly with UFV’s vision for the future, ensuring that the university’s infrastructure continues to evolve in a way that supports its strategic goals.

“I’m thrilled to be part of UFV and to contribute to shaping a campus that is not only functional but also inspiring,” said Ingi. “My goal is to integrate international best practices in sustainable and innovative campus planning to enhance the student experience.”

Ingi is looking forward to becoming part of the collaborative environment across the university, leveraging her experience to partner and develop spaces that inspire learning and innovation.

“I believe in the power of blending theory and practice,” Ingi added. “My role at UFV allows me to apply real-world insights while remaining connected to the academic world, which is incredibly fulfilling.
