Energy awareness session at UFV

Dr. Lucy Lee raised awareness about energy use at UFV, our homes, and around the world, as part of Green UFV campaign “Energy Break” to reduce energy use

In a 30 min Energy Break time this past Wednesday, with a low energy snack (blueberries) as treat, she informed an informal gathering about the need to be Energy Smart. This was part of UFV’s broader initiative to reduce energy use, and to foster a workplace culture where everyone works together to help reduce the energy demand of electronic equipment.  She also brought an energy reader that can be used to measure the amount of energy used for any plug-in device and that displays the energy usage in either dollar amount/yr or kilowatt/h or in CO2 emissions. You will be amazed at the showings!  These Belkin energy meters can be borrowed by UFV employees on a sign-out basis from facilities.

UFV employees are pledging to conserve energy in the office by turning off various electronic devices in the office when they leave such as lights, computers, coffee pots, printers, etc., and promise to do the same at their homes since energy demands are increasing and energy resources are shrinking.
