UFV complying with ordered reduction in natural gas use

UFV and other post-secondary institutions are responding to the forced shut down of natural gas due to an explosion on the pipeline near Prince George on Tuesday. Fortis BC has instructed UFV and other large users of natural gas to curtail use in an effort to preserve the provincial supply.

In order to comply, UFV will be reducing heat in all buildings on the main Abbotsford campus only.

Classes and activities will continue as scheduled.

Faculty, staff, and students are advised to dress appropriately as temperatures in buildings will fall overnight and then rise throughout the day tomorrow.

In order to assist temperature control during the day, windows should remain closed, while blinds and curtains should be opened to let natural daytime heating occur.

Building heating systems will remain shut off until authorized by Fortis BC to resume operation.

Thank you for your patience during this response.
