Building Trust Across Cultures
Trusting relationships are at the foundation of inclusivity. In professional settings, the actions and experiences that establish trust can differ across individuals and cultures.

In this workshop, we will:

  • discuss why taking time for trust building is vital in multicultural interactions and teams.
  • define different orientations to trust-building and locate our own orientation.
  • learn about the role of empathy and cultural humility in trust building.
  • explore strategies for shifting our approach trust-building in work with colleagues and students.

Turning Conflict into Opportunity
We all experience conflict. Most of us have developed our own toolkit for preventing unhealthy conflicts and to resolve issues that arise. But what if we’re blinded by our own comfort zone and style? Clinical evidence-based conflict research shows how we all have a preferred approach when in conflict. While our approach may work well in some circumstances, it is less effective in others. Those skilled in dealing with workplace conflict expand their toolkits with surprising techniques from other approaches that really work in resolving issues. Participants leave this dynamic and engaging session with practical tools they can implement right away to resolve conflicts for good!

Psychological Safety in the Workplace
In this 90-minute workshop we will explore the phenomenon of psychological safety and create a safe place for participants to share their own experiences of feeling psychologically unsafe in the workplace. We will discuss the challenge of unconscious biases and the tell-tale signs of these to watch out for revealed through subtle micro-messages. At an individual level, a person’s emotional intelligence is the primary enabling skill that contributes to the level of psychological safety on a team and in an organization. Individuals with high emotional intelligence create higher levels of psychological safety, whereas those with low emotional intelligence can destroy it.

Inner Strength
This session will explore self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-efficacy, all important components of inner strength, as well as the benefits of practicing self-compassion. Participants will be introduced to a variety of theories and concepts around these topics, have the opportunity to complete self-assessments and learn strategies to help build a stronger sense of self.

Negotiating Respectful Interpersonal Boundaries

Fundamentals of Adobe InDesign
Learn how to create and modify collateral for print and web using Adobe InDesign. UFV Branding and design basics are baked into the lesson plan. Participants will get a full set of InDesign marketing templates after the course so that they can start creating right away.
