Week three’s theme of UFV Unite is Eat Right, Feel Better
Featuring the launch of UFV’s Pandemic Kitchen, this culinary competition is the brainchild of, Kyle Baillie, Director of Student Life and Development. “There is a global pandemic that has forced us into seclusion with our loved ones, changed the way we work, turned us into face-masked, hand-sanitizing, toilet paper hoarders and altered the very social fabric of our communities as we attempt to keep ourselves and our families safe to “flatten a curve” of impending viral Armageddon. There is only one thing to do: cook some food.”
Keep an eye out Monday as he kicks off the competition and asks for you to submit your own videos. All details and instructions will be posted within the group including recording/editing tips and our weekly categories, which include “Because I was bored” and “To keep the kids quiet.”
Two Pandemic masterpieces will be featured on the UFV Unite Facebook page each week. Creators of featured videos will be rewarded handsomely for their excellence in the culinary arena; they’ll be asked to contribute their recipe to a UFV Pandemic Kitchen Cookbook to be printed after this madness ends, to live on in glory and UFV lore, and will be given a copy of the book with others being sold, with all proceeds going to support the UFV-SUS Food Bank. So start raiding your pantry, dust off the cookbooks and practice your whisking as we can’t wait to see what you come up with.
Week three will also focus on Meal Prep 101 tips, supporting local businesses and on Wednesday, April 29 we will be offering a live, Lunch & Learn session on setting meaningful goals to prioritize your wellness while spending a bit more time at home.
I hope you all enjoyed the week two unit and completing squares on your BINGO card. Join us at 10 am on Monday for a “Bluejeans Coffee Break,” where we will be announcing all the week two prize winners. The link to the meeting will be posted in Facebook.
