Did you know that Earth Day was first celebrated in the United States in 1970? It all began with a group known as the Earth Day Network. Their mission was and continues to be:
To broaden and diversify the environmental movement worldwide and to mobilize it as the most effective vehicle to build a healthy, sustainable environment, address climate change, and protect the Earth for future generations
The United Nations, recognizing that many countries show a common expression for our planet, decided to designate April 22 as International Mother Earth Day in 2009.
This year’s theme is: “Trees for Earth”
