lIYSF 2015: Day 1 – Meeting the people of LIYSF

The train from Gatwick to Victoria Station was rather enjoyable, as I was allowed to see the rolling countryside, and capture my first glimpse of the classic brick buildings found in London! Feels surreal to finally be here! I also happened to meet up with a fine gentleman who was visiting from Norway while on the train.

I then took the tube to South Kensington where I met a LIYSF member that directed me to the residence building. The subway is incredibly efficient, for anyone going in the future an oyster card is worth the investment! After arriving, I checked in and was briefed on the LIYSF program!

I have already met SO many people from all over the world! So many names and faces and countries, it’s going to take me more than a few days to figure them out, what with over 450 participants! I was introduced to Emmanuel from England, Ruben from the Netherlands, Tay from China, Gretel from Estonia, Juan from Spain, Paul from France, and so many others! Everyone is extremely excited to be here and ready to talk about their countries and cultures which is absolutely fascinating.

This young man from Ireland (his name escapes me at the moment) and I took a quick peek into the Natural History Museum while waiting for registration! Hopefully there will be more time to look at the exhibits later this trip!
I had the chance to meet Gabriel (Right) and his friend from Brazil who will be presenting together at the Bazaar coming up tomorrow evening!

However, I think I have officially been awake for over 30 hours, and it’s time for me to get some sleep.
