Thank you to the 144+ students, faculty and staff who attended our 16th Annual Science Social event held on the K-Building Patio last night. This was our largest attendance on record!
Our emcee for the evening was our Associate Dean, Ian Affleck. We were honoured to welcome UFV Acting President and vice-Chancellor, James Mandigo, Teresa Kisilevich, Dean of the Faculty of Applied and Technical Studies, and recently retired Dean of Science, Lucy Lee. Unfortunately our new Dean of Science Michael Hitch was unable to attend.
The students enjoyed an evening of food, fun, and music while checking out the student groups and other helpful areas on campus. We had numerous door prizes donated by the departments of Agriculture, Biology, Chemistry, Math & Stats, PGES/GEO, Advising and various other areas. Congratulations to all of the winners!
Special thanks to the following student groups who were on hand to answer questions and hopefully sign on some new members!
- ASA: Agriculture Student Association
- MSA: Math and Stats Student Association
- PSA: Physics Student Association
- PEGASUS: Planning, Environmental, Geosciences and Student Union Society (formerly SLUECSA)
- UFVWEST: Women in Engineering, Science, and Technology
We would also like to thank the following areas for attending and contributing to our evening:
CIVL Radio for supplying the music for the evening, Office of Sustainability, Centre for Experiential and Career Education, Student Experience Office, RBC on Campus.
Thanks to our pizza slingers, Lin Long, Stefania Pizzirani, Afia Raja, Karla Deschenes, and Caroline Majeau AND of course, a huge thank you to the Science Social Committee – Caroline Majeau and Janice Nagtegaal from the Faculty of Science Dean’s Office; Rilla Apostolakis and Karla Deschenes from Science Advising.
