2026 Clayoquot Biosphere Field School is underway!

Twenty-four biology students, along with biology faculty Jennifer Barrett, Sandra Gillespie, Debbie Wheeler, Dina Navon, Yvonne Dzal, Harley Gordon, and UFV BSc 2021 graduate Dilan Praat, headed out on our first field school since 2019. From May 14–26, they will explore the diverse terrestrial and marine ecosystems of the Clayoquot Biosphere Trust region, learning about Nuu-chah-nulth history, language, culture, and Indigenous-led conservation efforts. The group will also take part in a whale-watching tour to observe whales, seals, and seabirds in their natural habitat.

This immersive, extended biological field experience will also earn these students 8 credits (BIO 442)!
