Hello and welcome to Day 5 of LIYSF 2025!
Today was a bit different, it was finally a day to rest and recharge! While some students headed off on optional visits to Stonehenge and Hampton Court Palace, I didn’t have any visits signed up, not exactly by choice though. All the seats were full by the time I tried, so that meant, whether I liked it or not, I had a free day to myself.
That said, my body still decided to wake me up early (probably still battling the jet lag), so instead of wasting the morning, I set out to explore the city!
I made my way to Tower Bridge and the Tower of London, and they were absolutely stunning. I then spent some time relaxing at a nearby park, relaxing before the evening’s big DEBATE event.
And now, for the highlight of the day,
The much awaited lecture and debate session with Dr. Jason Nurse on Artificial Intelligence!
It was so engaging and thought provoking. The central question: “Is AI good or bad?” sparked some intense and fascinating discussions. We explored how rapidly AI is taking over our world from its benefits in healthcare, research, and education to its risks, like job displacement and the challenge of distinguishing real from AI-generated content.
The room was full of energy as everyone had something to say and it felt like an actual debate. This debate evening was undoubtedly, the highlight of the day and gave us so much to think about going forward.
Can’t wait for tomorrow , a fully packed day of lectures and activities ahead! – Kashvi
