Hello everybody and welcome to Day 4 of LIYSF 2025!
Today was the BIG DAYYYYY! It was finally time for the Science Bazaar where students from 92 different countries came together to present a range of different research projects.
The day started super early as usual around 6 AM, when my roommate and I woke up and rushed out to find a local print shop to get our research posters printed. Yes, both of us were presenting today and somehow, we had totally procrastinated and forgot about printing them earlier !! But luckily, everything worked out just in time! After a quick breakfast, we headed straight to the Principal Lecture Demonstration on VACCINOLOGY, and it was hands down the most interesting lecture I’ve ever attended. I absolutely love biology and everything related to it , especially vaccines and immunology, so this session was really fascinating for me! We discussed antibodies, learned how new vaccines are designed, and what ethical considerations come into play when developing them. I was honestly so into it , from start to finish!
Once the lecture wrapped up, we rushed back to the hotel, picked up our freshly printed posters and made our way to the venue to set up for the Science Bazaar. Now, I’ll admit , I haven’t done too many research projects before. But I decided to present the work I did as a part of my Ecology coursework . I didn’t want to miss this golden opportunity to showcase something, meet new people and have meaningful conversations. Plus, I genuinely enjoy public speaking, so it was an exciting challenge!
And guess what..? presenting at the Bazaar gets you an extra certificate, sooo why not!!?
Let me just say THE BAZAAR WAS NEXT LEVEL INSANE (in the best way). I always thought research wasn’t my thing until TODAY. Being surrounded by so many brilliant minds, creative ideas and passionate students from all over the world really changed my vision for science. People had everything from flood control models to DIY makeup and perfumes, to hand built circuits aimed at helping with Parkinson’s disease. I wish I could list them all! There were just so many incredible ideas and I absolutely can’t wait to be back and share them with my mates at UFV! As for my own poster, I had the opportunity to speak to over 50 students who visited me to ask questions and wanted to know about my project, it was so nice to describe what we did as a part of our research at UFV.
Now, I’ll be honest, I definitely had so much fun but I was so tired after talking to so many students and the professors about my research poster!
The original plan by the end of the Bazaar was to crash at the hotel after dinner and get some much deserved rest but my amazing new friends reminded me that it was the weekend and we had a bit of free time the next morning ,so we all went out to explore China town . It was absolutely lovely to explore the city and spend time with some friends after such a long and tiring day & that was a wrap to my Day 4 !
