Science Rocks! is a series of summer day-camps for kids in grades 4-6, held on UFV campuses, with three weeks in Abbotsford and three weeks in Chilliwack. www.ufv.ca/science-rocks/
We are looking for UFV students who …..
- Have a passion for science, love working with kids, and are excited to bring these two together;
- Work well in a team situation as well as on their own;
- Have good organizational skills;
- Have a broad science background
Ideal candidates are students with diverse backgrounds covering most of the science areas. Preference will be given to students who have experience working with children. We seek to hire at least one full-time facilitator to work for all camps, with preference to someone who identifies as female. In addition, we are looking for facilitators to possibly work for selected weeks of camp, pending sufficient enrolment in the camps (we run six week-long camps, three in Abbotsford and three in Chilliwack). All facilitators must obtain a criminal record check and complete WHMIS training.
The full-time (8-week) position may be supported by the Canada Summer Jobs Grant Program and if so, according to the criteria set by the grant, the successful applicant must be under the age of 30 at the start of employment, be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred, have a SIN at the start of employment, and be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Dates: June 24, 2024 – August 20, 2024
Hours: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday
Salary: $23.90 per hour ( + 14% in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays, and benefits)
