MARCH 2 – Pollinator Garden Education & Installation

Please join Biology Professors, Sandra Gillespie and Alan Reid, discuss plant biodiversity, and native pollinators and what they need. Learn about the plans to create a pollinator garden on campus and what you can do to support pollinators in your own gardens. REGISTER
MARCH 9 – Clothing Exchange & Repair Fair

Evered Hall, Student Union Building, Abbotsford Campus
Did you know that the clothing industry is one of the biggest environmental issues of our time? Join us for this engaging, hands-on event where you can:
- learn how to make simple repairs to your clothing
- learn how to use sewing machines to make new items from scrap clothing material
- bring in your used, good condition clothes that you no longer wear and freely exchange them with others
- discuss gender equality issues and strategies in the global clothing industry

MARCH 16 – Early Earth Day
10:00 am – 2:00 pm
GH102 (Front Library), Abbotsford Campus
Although Earth Day is officially in April, we want to celebrate it early as well! This event will showcase strategies for many leading environmental issues including invasive species, food waste, flooding, and more. We will also have opportunities to learn about urban forestry, gardening, and ways to communicate with your local politicians. REGISTER
MARCH 23 – Sustainability Career Fair

Would you like a career that involves sustainability? Come hear from a panel of industry professionals, recent graduates, and professors. Together we will learn about various sustainability careers such as urban forestry, environmental education, BC Parks ranger, watershed conservation, wildlife protection, renewable energy, GIS mapping, sustainable business, and more. You will also have a chance to speak with each panelist in “breakout rooms”. Come listen, learn, ask questions, meet professionals, and make connections to meaningful careers! REGISTER

Additionally, attaining a professional designation from an external, career-specific organization can also be a great advantage to you. Hear from a panel of professional designation experts. We will learn about various professional designations (such as the Registered Professional Biologist (RPBio)), what they are, why they are important, and how you can use your time at UFV to help you gain a professional designation.
