Job Opportunity – Science Outreach Organizer W2020

The Faculty of Science runs two science outreach programs each semester.

Super Science Club is an after-school program that Science World offers and UFV delivers at local elementary schools. You will be doing cool science activities with groups of elementary school kids as part of an after-school program. Science World provides the training and curriculum. Science Rocks! in Schools and Libraries is an outreach program UFV offers to local communities. The curriculum used is that of UFV’s Science Rocks! Summer camps. For more information see the link at http://www.ufv.ca/sciencerocks/

We are looking for a student with a broad science background, a passion for science and who love working with kids. In addition, strong organizational skills are essential to help with organizing our outreach efforts, which include both the above programs as well as other science outreach opportunities during the term.

The successful candidate will be required to obtain a criminal record check, and to travel to schools in the Abbotsford, Chilliwack, and Mission school districts. In addition, to be eligible for a work-study position, a student must be enrolled in a minimum of 9 credits (6 if registered  with disability services) and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 throughout the funding semester.
