Wrapping up 2018

All good things come to an end. 2018 was quite a productive year for SustainableUFV, and we are looking forward to an even better year in 2019!

Fall Semester Recap

During the fall semester we held the annual Waste Audit and published the results in a report, here.

Furthermore, the Faculty of Science announced a 2018/2019 greenSpeak series! If you or someone you know is interested in presenting as part of the series, please contact Caroline Majeau or Lucy Lee. To conclude the semester, we formulated a Checklist to promote Sustainability and held a contest to see who could receive the most amount of check marks. The submissions we received were fantastic, nice work everybody!

Next Semester

Goals

A key takeaway from the Audit is that there is an abundance of disposable cups being formulated on campus and a lot of confusion regarding how to properly dispose of these cups. It is a goal for us to educate the UFV community on how to properly dispose of these cups. Ultimately, we would like to work toward decreasing the amount of cups being disposed as much as possible.

Sustainable UFV Meeting

On January 16th we will be having another SustainableUFV meeting. We would love to have you join us to discuss goals for winter semester and volunteer opportunities for Sweater Week! The meeting will be from 12 to 1:30 pm and the location is TBA.

Sweater Week

It’s almost time to get your fleece on! This year’s sweater week will be held from January 28th to February 1st. Details will be discussed at the meeting, but if you are interested in participating please reply to this email!

Have a happy holidays everyone and looking forward to hearing back from some of you,
