Special thanks to our delegates, Wendie Bailleul and Sarah Bacon, both educators from the Abbotsford School District who accompanied Raul and James to Ottawa.

The week was full of exciting experiences and opportunities where memories and friendships were made that will last a lifetime. After the welcome events and opening ceremony they took part in evening social activities including a BBQ at the University of Ottawa where they attended presentations by professors and students. After an exhilarating day of judging, the students toured the capital visiting museums and Parliament. They also had the chance to enjoy the Tulip Festival and take a cruise on the Ottawa River and the Rideau Canal. The week ended with a spectacular awards ceremony and closing event.

Raul won the Senior Intact Climate Change Resilience Award – $1,000 cash and certificate plus an all-expenses paid trip to Waterloo, Ontario during summer 2018 to visit the Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation at the University of Waterloo, Canada’s leading research centre on climate change resilience.
