IT Services Telephony Review Survey

IT Services is reviewing UFV’s university-issued telephony services to better understand current usage and business needs as we plan for the future of communication services across the university.

If you have been assigned a physical desk phone, a softphone, or both, please take a few minutes to complete our short survey by July 31, 2026. The survey takes approximately 2 minutes to complete.

What is a Softphone?
A softphone is a university phone extension that operates through software on your computer rather than a physical desk phone. Examples include the MiCollab application and other software that enables you to make and receive calls using your computer and headset.

Why Are We Conducting This Survey?
The survey results will help IT Services:

  • Understand how physical phones and softphones are being used
  • Ensure telephony services align with business requirements
  • Identify opportunities to simplify and modernize communication services
  • Support future planning, including the transition from Mitel telephony services to Microsoft Teams Phone

What Is Not Included?
This survey does not apply to UFV-issued mobile phones or mobile phone service plans.

What Happens Next?
Following the review, IT Services will analyze survey results and develop recommendations. Department leaders will have an opportunity to review recommendations before any changes are implemented.
