What do I need to know?
Kaltura Cloud will be completing a required upgrade to its software to enhance and optimize the service. The upgrade will result in an outage beginning Sunday, January 25th at 12:00AM (midnight).
After the Upgrade:
To ensure you are using the latest version of Kaltura for recording videos, please launch the application from the Kaltura MyMedia page in Brightspace rather than from your device.
Steps:
1. Log in to Brightspace.
2. Click on the MyMedia drop-down in the navigation bar.
3. Select Kaltura MyMedia.
4. Click the + Add New button and choose Kaltura Capture from the drop-down menu.
Once you launch Kaltura Capture this way, you can open it directly from your device for subsequent recordings.
*If you are a staff member who has a UFV Mediaspace account, please login to UFV Mediaspace (video.ufv.ca) and follow Step 4.
When will this Occur?
Sunday, January 25th, 2026, from 12:00AM to 3:00AM with potential for outage to extend until 12:00PM (Noon)
Who is impacted?
All UFV students and faculty will be unable to access videos in Brightspace that are uploaded via Kaltura or upload new videos in Brightspace through Kaltura during the outage windows.
• Videos uploaded directly in Brightspace using its built-in video platform are NOT impacted.
Services Impacted:
• Video access and upload ability in Brightspace via Kaltura will be unavailable during the outage.
• Brightspace’s built-in video platform remains fully functional, videos created and uploaded using that feature will not be affected.
• UFV Mediaspace (video.ufv.ca) will be unavailable during the upgrade period
