School of Kinesiology Students Led Inclusive After-School Dance & Movement Program at GW Graham

The School of Kinesiology hosted a Dance and Movement after-school program at G.W. Graham Secondary School, with support from the Chilliwack School Board. The program was designed to encourage physical activity, creativity, and social connection through inclusive movement experiences.

The program was led by a fourth-year Kinesiology student and supported by six KIN student volunteers who provided guidance, motivation, and support throughout the sessions. A total of 12 high school students with exceptionalities, ranging in age from 8 to 16, participated in the program, creating a positive and welcoming environment.

Throughout the program, participants engaged in a variety of dance and movement activities that helped build confidence, self-expression, and enjoyment of physical activity. On December 4th, the students showcased their dances to family and friends, celebrating their progress and achievements. The event concluded with a program celebration, bringing together participants, volunteers, and supporters to reflect on the success of the program.

This initiative highlighted the School of Kinesiology’s commitment to community engagement, inclusive programming, and meaningful experiential learning opportunities for students.
