We’re thrilled to share that Associate Professor, Dr. Jelena Brcic has been awarded a prestigious grant from the Search and Rescue New Initiatives Fund (SAR NIF)! 🏅✨
With this funding, Dr. Brcic will spearhead a groundbreaking project that dives deep into the experiences of women volunteers in Canadian Search and Rescue (SAR) organizations. 🌟🚨
Her project aims to:
- ➡️ Explore the unique successes and challenges faced by female SAR volunteers. 🔍
- ➡️ Identify areas for improvement to promote equity, inclusivity, and diversity within Canadian SAR teams. 💪
- ➡️ Build on her research into coping mechanisms, post-experience growth, and self-efficacy in extreme environments — including the International Space Station and the Arctic and Antarctic. 🧠
Dr. Brcic’s work will not only shed light on the vital contributions of women in SAR but also drive meaningful changes to support and empower all volunteers. We can’t wait to see the impact of this important research! 🌍
Congratulations, Dr. Brcic, on this well-deserved recognition and the opportunity to make a significant difference! 👏👏
