Help Your Community Be More Sustainable and Win $500!

Our world is far from perfect, but what can be done change that? Life on land and under the sea is threatened, people die of hunger and curable diseases every day, and somehow in our advanced society gender equality is still an issue. There is an old English proverb that states, “Necessity is the Mother of Invention” but why wait till the need for change becomes so imperative that we are forced to find ways to solve these issues? Why don’t we all start now to collectively change our world for the better, so that by 2030 we can meet the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (http://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/sustainable-development-goals/).

For these goals to be reached, everyone needs to do their part.

And this is where you come in!

Tell us how UFV or Fraser Valley Community can address one or more of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals by submitting a conceptual or empirical essay that proposes an initiative we can start. Submissions should develop an original proposal or analyze an existing initiative that has facilitated sustainable social, environmental, and economic development. Provide a research based argument for how this initiative can be developed in your target community.

Submission deadline is May 01, 2017.

Don’t stop here and think that this is too hard or too complicated. Every one of you is in a class right now where these topics are being discussed and projects are being assigned. Take the research and paper you are already writing for a class, and mold it into the support for the great idea that is forming in your brain right now!

We are some of the most privileged people on the face of the planet, and it is time for us to give back and help all of those around us in need!

Stand beside the School of Business and Sustainable UFV to help create change in our community.
