Dr. Alisa Webb has been appointed Vice-President, Students at the University of the Fraser Valley. She has held this role on an interim basis since June of 2018 and is the successful candidate of the recently concluded executive search.

Dr. Webb was Associate Dean of Students in the College of Arts and a faculty member in the History department after joining the university in 2004. She is an alumna of UFV, having earned her Bachelor of Arts with a major in history and minor in sociology in 2001. She attained her MA from Simon Fraser University in 2003 and her PhD in 2008.

She will be responsible for the Office of the Registrar, Student Life and Development, Counselling Services, the Centre for Accessibility Services, and Athletics and Campus Recreation.

“I’m looking forward to continuing working with Dr. Webb and the university is fortunate to have a person of her calibre, integrity, ability, and experience in this key role,” said UFV President Joanne MacLean. “Dr. Webb is a proven leader and her passion for student success will carry UFV forward in an area of excellence integral to our identity as a university.”

Dr. Webb is looking forward to continuing her work on behalf of students.

“I’m excited and honoured to be appointed to this important role and look forward to working with an amazing team of colleagues who are devoted to student support and success,” said Dr. Webb. “We will continue to innovate and evolve in our holistic approach to helping students attain their education and reach their goals.”

She has extensive experience in curriculum design and revision, and has played a leading role in special projects such as the redesign of the Bachelor of Arts degree. She served as head of the History department during its program review and associated curriculum reforms. She was also coordinator of a Chilliwack Arts Cohort program for three years, mentoring students and teaching University 101, which ensured students’ successful transition to university.

In 2016, Dr. Webb received the BC Council on Admissions and Transfer’s Rising Star award, given to an individual who, early in their career, demonstrates exceptional leadership and accomplishment in the area of transfer and articulation within the BC Transfer System.
