Campus Recreation wants YOU to REACH your potential

A new initiative from UFV Campus Recreation is challenging students and employees to embrace more than just physical fitness.

“We are encouraging everyone to embrace seven dimensions of wellness through our UFV Wellness Challenge,” says Cheryl Van Nes, program manager for Campus Recreation and Wellness. “These include physical, environmental, social, intellectual, occupational, emotional, and spiritual wellness.”

The 10-week REACH@UFVRec Wellness Challenge invites members of the UFV community to log their activities by scanning their student or employee card at any of the events included in the challenge. There will be separate prize streams for employees and students, with the student prizes donated by supporting businesses and organizations, and the employee prizes provided by the Faculty and Staff Association.

“We really want to encourage students to stick around after their classes are done for the day and participate in some of the many great health and wellness opportunities available on campus,” says Van Nes. This could include a fitness class, a special guest lecture, a student club activity, a presentation from sponsor departments such as the Academic Success Centre, or a Cascades game.

“Taking care of their physical and mental wellness will help students to be more successful in the classroom,” says Van Nes.

To sign onto the challenge, join the Campus Rec organization in UFV myCampusLife and fill out the REACH@UFVRec registration form.
