Cascades women’s basketball sweep UNBC to close out weekend
The UFV Cascades women’s basketball team (15-5) took the UNBC Timberwolves (4-16) to task for a second consecutive night with an 88-51 road victory Saturday. UFV pulled ahead in the first quarter and never let up, building leads that climbed into the mid-thirties during the second half. The Cascades are still tied with UBC for first in the Pacific division, while Victoria has fallen off the pace with a surprise loss to TRU.
UFV beat the Timberwolves 79-63 in Prince George Friday night.
Cascades survive, and survive, and survive to outlast Timberwolves 67-61
The UNBC Timberwolves (4-16) left it all on the floor Saturday, but it wasn’t quite enough to vanquish the high-flying UFV Cascades men’s basketball team (15-5), who scraped out a 67-61 victory by the sweat of their brows and the skin of their shooting hands. Saturday’s game was the closest the Cascades have played in some time, so close that they led by only two points with 1:30 remaining in the fourth quarter. UFV now sits at second in the Pacific division, two games down from Victoria and three games up on TRU with only two games remaining in the season.
UFV’s men beat the Timberwolves 87-62 Friday.
