Building a Course Syllabus Workshop
Building a course syllabus is a challenging task but creating a syllabus that students want to read can be daunting. Join Claire Hay for this workshop where we will explore the creation of a student-centred syllabus and think about ways we can encourage students to engage in its content.

Workshop Dates (choose one):
Thursdays: Oct 28 / Nov 25 / Dec 9 (2 – 3 pm)

Basics of Universal Design Workshop
This workshop will focus on the three principles of UDL – Engagement, Representation, and Expression.
We will explore UDL concepts and easy ways to implement UDL into your courses.

Workshop Dates: Fri Oct 29 / Nov 12, 26 / Dec 10 (2 – 3 pm)

Visual Syllabus: An Introduction Workshop
The course outline or syllabus is an instructors first opportunity to engage students in the course even before classes commence. Evidence both anecdotal and research based suggests that supplementing the lengthy contractual syllabus that often never gets read, with a visually engaging syllabus could boost student interest and motivation in the course as well as their perception of the instructor. This workshop will prompt you to clarify syllabus information into those used daily that could be summarized visually, graphically or in fewer words and the administrative boilerplate that could otherwise reside in a course website. Upon completion the participants will be provided an easy-to-use sample syllabus template that can be edited in Microsoft PowerPoint to repurpose across disciplines.

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:
1. Identify elements of a visual syllabus
2. Discover the benefits of a visual syllabus

Workshop Dates: Thurs, Oct 21 / Nov 4, 18 / Dec 2 (10 – 11 am)
